Culture and Heritage of Bangkok
Vibrant Thai culture abounds in Bangkok; when it comes to culture and heritage sites, the only problem is narrowing down from the massive list of available options. Many visitors enjoy sampling the one-of-a-kind cuisine of this region when visiting Bangkok; curry and pad thai are staples and can be found at shops around the city, while the city's most famous soup - Tom Yum Goong - is not to be missed.
As integral as the Chao Phraya River has been throughout the history of Bangkok, boat tours along its central portion are great ways to see another side of the city. Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is another opportunity to get a feel for the culture and heritage of Bangkok; two venues in the city regularly host bouts. Finally, all of Thailand's major festivals are held in Bangkok. From the Bangkok Songkran Festival to the Trooping of the Colours, festivals are marvelous ways to join local citizens in celebrations of their unique and eclectic heritage.
